I have had the pleasure of participating in 1 Track this year. This track was created to tie up any holes in our theology and form a better foundation for doing good theology. It has been quite a ride and here are some thoughts.
We have wrestled with some tough doctrines such as election, unlimited limited atonement, eschatology, and much more. We seem to always come to place of mystery where our Faith is in a good God who knows all things including the limits of our minds to always fully comprehend things. Now does this mean that we are marshmellows who get tossed to and fro by every question? Absolutely not! We are men who firmly believe in the doctrines of grace but understand that in some instances God allows for tension and that is good. We should approach the scriptures with humility seeking to understand them through the Holy Spirit for the edification of ourselves and the body.
Justin and Gordon seem to get into altercation every night in good love which adds to the flavor of the festivities. I think Justin is holding a grudge from when Gordon dumped crumbs on the floor with no regards for human life.
It doesn’t get much better than a group of guys getting together to seek God and his truth in the scriptures. Now it is easy to get a group of guys together for a sporting event, big fight, darts, or cards. Only by God’s grace do you gather a pack of guys together to spend four long hours learning theology.
We ended the night going through the story of the fall. I politely asked Justin if there were a limited or unlimited number of apples on the tree of life and he replied “Joie I am going to kill you”. That is how we end the nights in Track 1, I love it.
